Shiloh Hub

Printing with fewer clicks.

Shiloh Hub is a dynamic program. Its ultimate purpose was never clearly defined, because it's still growing. But the primary goal is to keep people from having to click more than strictly necessary.

What do I mean by that? When you need to print, it's often the case that you first have to save as PDF, then select the right printer, and maybe adjust certain settings for the right paper, staples, or double-sided. That all takes time, and I've tried to reduce that through Shiloh Hub.

Shiloh Hub is a desktop application that runs on your computer. It works together with CUPS, a print server that runs on Linux and macOS, which gives extra possibilities.

An example: a customer bought a receipt printer to print invoices. But those invoices are PDFs, and that doesn't work on a receipt printer. Through the Hub I made a virtual printer. You see it on your computer or phone when you're on the same network. Print the PDF to that printer, and the Hub packages it so it fits on a receipt printer.

At Petals the Hub is used for receipts, work orders that get posted in the workshop, and labels for cards. The Hub automatically adjusts the text based on the label size.

The Hub connects to the Shiloh server network via WireGuard VPN. This sets up a secure connection between the customer and our servers, so we can safely send documents from our European servers to customers in Bonaire.

This connection can also be between your phone and your Hub. That way you can print from your phone outside your office, and the job comes out at your office.

The Hub is integrated with Shiloh POS and Commerce. The virtual printer function also works standalone. The same goes for scanning: the Hub can scan from available devices and save or process the files.
